dvLED for Spherical Solutions

Some content does not belong on a flat dvLED wall. Spheres, domes, cylinders and free curved volumes turn the display into an object in the room, and the same panel and control logic that holds color on a dvLED wall has to hold it around a curve.

The challenge

What this room demands

Curves in two axes

A sphere or dome bends the surface in every direction, so panel geometry, seams and mapping have to be planned together from the first sketch.

Color that holds around the shape

Viewers walk around a volume and see every panel at a different angle. Color and brightness have to stay identical from any side.

Content that fits the geometry

Flat content wraps badly. The mapping between source pixels and the curved surface has to be exact, or the image tears at the seams.

Structure and access

A closed volume needs a structure that carries the panels, hides the cabling and still lets a technician reach every module.

The TRUE approach

Geometry, panel and control planned as one project

TRUE plans spherical and curved volumes from the geometry down to the pixel map, with flexible panels, custom substructure and the ERMAC control system holding one calibration across the whole shape. Detailed material follows.

Flexible panels

Flexible module series bend to tight radii and are combined with convex and concave cabinets for the transitions.

Custom substructure

Frames and mounting engineered for the shape, produced for the project, with service access designed in.

Exact pixel mapping

The ERMAC control system maps the source onto the curved surface so the image runs continuously across every seam.

One calibrated volume

Panel and control come from one company, so color and brightness are calibrated across the whole object, not per face.

Proof

Where it earns its place

references for spherical and curved volume projects follow. Curved builds from TRUE and EKTA range from exhibition sculptures and domed studio ceilings to closed advertising volumes.

FAQ

Spherical Solutions questions

Can a dvLED display be built as a sphere or a dome?

Yes. Flexible panel series combined with convex and concave cabinets and a project specific substructure form spheres, domes, cylinders and free curved volumes. The geometry is planned with the pixel mapping from the start.

How is color kept even around a curved LED volume?

The ERMAC control system calibrates panel and control as one system across the whole shape, so brightness and color stay identical from every viewing angle.

Which pixel pitch is used on spherical displays?

It depends on the viewing distance, as on a dvLED wall. Flexible series are available in fine and medium pitches; we size the pitch and the radius for your object during planning.
